Coffee FAQs

How fresh is your coffee, and how soon after roasting do you ship?

Fresh! Our roasters roast daily and and ship within 48 hours – many orders will ship same day! Our coffee is guaranteed fresh!

What is specialty coffee?

Specialty Coffee as defined by the SCAA (Specialty Coffee Association of America) is 100% Arabica Beans that score over an 80 on their scale of 0-100. This strict grading scale is a complete sensory overview of the coffees in the green, roasted, ground, and brewed state. Coffees that attain Specialty status have very few defects, are typically grown in remote regions with ideal climates, and they display unique qualities in the cup. Less than 20% of all coffee grown in the world achieves the status of Specialty Grade Coffee.

What are your recommended brewing instructions?

We recommend brewing 18 g (about 2 tablespoons) per cup (300 ml). This can be adjusted to taste, so if it is too strong, use less coffee next time, too weak you can use more. See our Brewing 101 for more how-tos!

What is your darkest roast coffee?

If you enjoy a dark roast check out our Top Espresso blend. It's a coffee with full body and bold flavor. It's perfect for espresso, pour over, and even drip coffee makers.

What is your lightest roast coffee?

If you like light roast coffees we recommend our Founder's Blend. A smooth medium roasted dynamic powerhouse. No bitterness or aftertaste on this gem.

How should I store my coffee?

We recommend storing coffee in an airtight container in a cool dark place such as a cabinet. Moisture, oxygen, and light degrade the freshness of coffee. If coffee is stored in the freezer it goes through temperature changes that can result in condensation and coffee degradation. In addition, the coffee can absorb flavors and odors from the food around it.

How long is your coffee fresh for?

Coffee is freshest within 2-3 weeks of roasting, so for the best flavors we recommend consuming within that timeframe. After about 2 weeks you will begin to notice a decline in the nuances and flavors as the gasses are released.

Do you accept returns?

Coffee is a perishable product so we are unable to accept returns. If there is a problem with your coffee, please contact us and we will do what we can to make it right.

How long will delivery take?

Most orders arrive in 5 days or less from the ship date.
